The South Dorr. It was open and I DID take a peek inside... but no photos. The oldest door of the Baptistry modelled by Andrea da Pontedera, (il Pisano), and cast by the Venetian Leonardo d'Avanzo. It is divided into 28 sections on which can be found stories from the life of Saint John the Baptist and allegories of the cardinal and theological virtues. On either side are Roman sarcophagi with funerary allegories. |
